Summer in Vancouver just got a bit more bubbly. The season heralds the arrival of Le Picnic by Veuve Clicquot, a seasonal rooftop takeover at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver, where the city’s skyline is served with a side of chilled French imports.

Perched atop the hotel’s 17th-floor terrace is a space dotted with Douglas fir picnic tables, wicker ice buckets, and sweeping views of False Creek (a blue inlet snaking into the heart of the city). This season also marks the local debut of Veuve Clicquot’s 2018 La Grande Dame, the house’s prestige cuvée named for Madame Clicquot, the widowed pioneer who transformed the Champagne house into a global business.

Guests can be among the first to taste the new vintage, while working through a menu from Chef Colin Burslem that leans into a comfort-luxe assortment, from hot honey fried chicken sandwiches to Canadian lobster poutine. Make sure to save room for dessert as well—the JW Ice Cream Bar is serving house-made honey ice cream made with honey harvested from the hotel’s own rooftop beehives. Each Friday through Sunday, local musicians provide an acoustic soundtrack, making it all the easier to settle in for an early-evening apéritif on the roof.
