In warm-weather climates like Miami Beach, holiday installations often look a bit different. Perfumer House of Creed enlisted artist Shawn Kolodny for its seasonal makeover: a constellation of giant silver and gold bubbles bursting from the storefront and spilling out of oversized fragrance bottles. Last night, the collaboration kicked off with cocktails at the Esmé Miami Beach Hotel, co-hosted by CULTURED.
Guests—including curator Jordan Watson of Love Watts, artist Olive Allen, model Ellen Alexander, artist Talia Zoref, and WME’s Zach Iser—chatted and sipped drinks to a set by DJ Anna de Ferran while surrounded by towering silver orbs. The metallic color palette serves as an ode to the brand’s signature reflective bottle and its holiday offerings of the year, which feature a black-coated Aventus, the Carmina floral fragrance, and a solid gold Millésime Impérial.
Throughout November, Kolodny’s sculptures traveled to window displays in 30 locations worldwide after debuting in his hometown of Miami. “Crafting a single artwork is a challenge in itself; producing 30 unique pieces while maintaining a consistent foundational design across them was an intricate endeavor,” Kolodny told CULTURED for our Winter issue.
Earlier this week, a large-scale public sculpture commissioned by the City of Miami Beach, the House of Creed, and the Esmé Miami Beach Hotel was also unveiled on Española Way and Drexel Avenue by Miami Beach, complete with the lingering scent of the Creed Carmina fragrance. The piece went up just in time for Miami Art Week visitors, and will be on view through May 10, 2024.
In a statement about the projects, the artist shared, “Creed is undoubtedly a brand that I revere for its craftsmanship, history, and values. Being an artist, I know how many years of dedication it takes to perfect your craft. This is where I feel a synergy with the House of Creed and the seven generations of tailors and perfumers that have perfected time and time again the scents that we experience now.”
