Cultured presents Anderson Ranch Arts Center’s second annual “Inside My Studio” summer series. Directed and produced by Dennis Scholl, “Inside My Studio” is a series of intimate video portraits of the lives and studios of nine artists. The ninth and final installation of this year’s series features Brazilian artist Vik Muniz. Splitting his time between Brooklyn and Rio de Janeiro, Muniz is known for his photographs of large collages made from highly unconventional materials. He tells us, “To do that, I can’t be confined to a specific space. The world is my studio.” Muniz has worked with everything from jellybeans to garbage and finds great value in all kinds of spaces: “We practice our relationship to the world we live in, similar to churches or laboratories.”
