On February 2, Jamilah Sabur and Tschabalala Self were center stage at Cultured and the Hammer Museum's joint celebration of the two artists' latest installations. Up through May 5, Sabur is presenting a five-channel video installation which blends the digital with the ritualistic. Self's project, Bodega Run, is a corner store in the lobby gallery of the museum that highlights the microcosmic nature of a bodega as a cultural space impacted by social and economic standings. Guests sipped Tito's Handmade Vodka and Whispering Angel rosé in the art-filled home of collectors and patrons Arthur Lewis and Hau Nguyen in LA—among those in attendance were Cultured Editor-in-Chief Sarah Harrelson, LALA Editor-in-Chief Jessica Kantor, the Hammer Museum senior curator Anne Ellegood and assistant curator Erin Christovale (who organized Self and Sabur's projects, respectively), Diedrick Brackens, Troy Carter, Patrick Martinez, Larry Ossei-Mensah, Joy Simmons, Dana Garman, Genevieve Gaignard and Hannah Hoffman.
