With more than 1,000 episodes under their belts, How Long Gone podcast hosts Chris Black and Jason Stewart brought their singular formula to the New York stage for the premiere edition of the “Goneies” this Tuesday. The evening of pomp, circumstance, and tongue-in-cheek rhythm wasn’t unlike their weekly episodes, which feature top talent and voices across entertainment and pop culture for conversations punctuated by (playfully) snide remarks and musical finishes.

By the night’s end, silver chalices had been awarded to an array of tastemakers and friends of the pod, including John Early as “Ally of the Year,” and Black himself as “Gaybaiter of the Year.”

The Location: Racket, the Chelsea performance space featuring a rotation of indie rock, punk, and electronic acts, morphed into an impromptu trophy room for the night’s festivities, including special build-outs of the podcast’s green-and-blue-branded world.

The Guests: This year’s awardees included It-girls and -boys from the Internet’s halls including musician Mark Ronson; comedians Jacqueline Novak, Mary Beth Barone, John Early, and Joey Dardano; stylist Nicky Campbell; writer Emily Sundberg; chefs Andy Baraghani and Alison Roman; and podcast hosts Dan Rosen and Brian Park.

Cause for FOMO: There’s a specific brand of light-hearted chaos that occurs when extremely online people take something seriously. For those in the room, that meant watching a crowd of major personalities flex their comedic muscles in real-time.

Memorable Moment: The evening was punctuated by live performances from musicians including Kevin Morby, Blondshell, and J Mascis, all sharing the same stage that the illustrious winners would make their speeches from after receiving each “Goneie.”
