Damien Hirst, art-world provocateur and sometime pickler of sharks, famously said that “anything well done is art.” So it’s no surprise that the 61-year-old conceptual artist is the latest artist to step outside of traditional mediums and collaborate with Dom Pérignon on its 2026 end-of-year, limited-edition vintages.
The house has been working on the project with different creatives since 2005, when Karl Lagerfeld kicked off a series of collaborations that now count Lenny Kravitz, Lady Gaga, David Lynch, and Jeff Koons among participants. Each has brought their distinct sensibility to the same dark glass bottle. Hirst’s work draws on his long-running “Kaleidoscope” series, not unlike the house’s own approach to assemblage: blending clusters of specially-sourced grapes from a single year into a vintage.

The historic Dom Pérignon crest was given a winged update, as Hirst has fluttered a butterfly design out across bottles of Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2010 and Dom Pérignon Vintage 2018. The butterfly motif, one of Hirst’s signature symbols, adds a touch of Pop to the classical label.
The artist sees his own process—and that of the Champagne house—reflected in each new creation. “When you’re making an artwork, it takes time: You have an idea, you play around with it, it starts to come to life,” he said in a statement. “There might be mistakes, so you tweak things, but then it eventually goes where it’s supposed to go. It’s the same with Dom Pérignon. [It has] a really long and meticulous process.”
Still, the labor hasn’t made the British bon vivant too precious about the output. “I love art that you can wear or use,” he said. Or, in this case, sip.
