Amidst the runway mayhem of a packed Spring/Summer 2027 season in New York, silver-screen mainstay Gemma Chan co-hosted an exclusive night of revelrous glamour with Bloomingdale’s, to honor the fall fashion season and her cover for CULTURED‘s Cult of Personality issue. Following her film Josephine‘s red-hot festival run, the actor took a night off to celebrate with the fashion set.
In Chan’s cover story, the star reminisces on her early television days and Crazy Rich Asians breakout with director Jon M. Chu, in a sumptuous array of Zegna, Toteme, Ferragamo, Issey Miyake, and Erdem looks (with a twinkle of Cartier jewels, of course).
At NoLita’s Oriana, the evening was placed squarely in the middle of downtown Manhattan’s busy social calendar. Attendees clinked glasses of freezer gin martinis and wine during the cocktail, with oysters, beet tartlets, and assorted snacks making the rounds. After the first course was cleared, (bluefin tuna and maitake skewer, anyone?) CULTURED Director of Brand Ian Malone welcoming the glittering crowd before introducing, Denise Magid, the retailer’s chief merchant and co-host.
“We’re incredibly grateful that you chose to spend your evening with us. On your behalf, we have a made a donation to the 9/11 Museum Never Forget Fund in acknowledging today’s anniversary. We hope that this gesture helps us come together on this important day,” Magid said.
As the evening unfolded, Fruit Fly author Josh Silver compared notes of literary success and stress with peers Coco Mellors and Rob Franklin. Gagosian director and CULTURED European contributor Georgina Cohen. Chan held court with actor Katie Holmes, sparkling in a white Calvin Klein look, alongside her partner, artist Jason Bard Yarmosky. Beside them, Bloomingdale’s SVP of Integrated Marketing Kevin Harter chatted with Industry star Sagar Radia. The most raucous table included Tina Leung, designer Jason Wu, style tastemakers Nicky Campbell and Angelica Hicks, and copious glasses of wine. Gemma held court at her table, chatting with playwright and collaborator David Henry Hwang, and socialite Ivy Getty.
The feast included wood-fired salmon and smoked chicken, alongside charred broccolini and coal-baked potato with smoked bone marrow au jus. A sweet finish to the night’s festivities arrived by way of sticky toffee pudding and a classic Eton mess.

Additional guests trading style cues and champagne toasts included athlete Venus Williams; actor Jack Haven; CULTURED contributor Tina Zhang; style tastemakers Lilah Ramzi, Isiah Magsino, and Luke Meagher; Bloomingdale’s leadership David Thielebeule; stylists Elizabeth Sulcer, Alexander Roth, and Thomas Christos Kikis; chef and food stylist Romilly Newman; artist Alteronce Gumby; producer Harrison Vail; designers Brandon Blackwood and Marcus Milione; and director Whitney White.
Long after the last glass had been raised, the room still hummed—proof that when downtown’s fashion faithful and Hollywood’s brightest collide, the party writes its own ending. Between Chan’s toast and the swirl of Cartier catching candlelight, the evening cemented itself as one of the season’s most irresistible affairs: a fitting ode to a true Cult of Personality moment.
