On the eve of New York Fashion Week, CULTURED and Bank of America Rewards united a gaggle of fashion world insiders for an intimate cocktail and panel with Carolina Herrera Creative Director Wes Gordon in celebration of the house’s 45th anniversary.

The Locale: Guests, clad in their fashion week best (sans practical footwear for hoofing it from runway to runway), gathered at the Grand Salon at the Fifth Avenue Hotel. The ballroom was festooned with calla lilies and the new Cult of Personality issue, hot off the presses.

The Crowd: Actor Jack Cameron Kay, model Vienna Skye, artist Tyler Omeed Mazaheri, fashion editor Caroline Vazzana, models Curtis and Carlsen Atanga, model and actor Marta Pozzan, man-on-the-street Davis Burleson, photographer Flo Ngala, gallerist Yancey Richardson, photographer and writer Everett Williams, and model Mary Leest were all in attendance.

Memorable Moment: In an intimate conversation introduced by Bank of America’s Shikha Narula, Gordon, who has served as creative director of Carolina Herrera since 2018, opened up to Harrelson about filling the very large shoes of the label’s eponymous designer. These days, she encounters the collection alongside everyone else during fashion week. There was also much talk of nail-biting presentation moments (“Nothing is done until literally the music starts and the models start walking”) and, of course, reading the comments after a runway.

Cause For FOMO: For the art-world denizens in the room, Gordon dished on what it took to pull together the brand’s show last February, which counted artists Amy Sherald, Ming Smith, Eliza Douglas, and Rachel Feinstein as its stars.
