Givenchy's Shark Pinch boot, known for its sculptural sheath and glinting metal hardware, lures bold fashion girls to their fate.

When it comes to shoes, it’s hard to reinvent the wheel without tipping too far into spectacle. The Shark Pinch boot is the rare exception.

Givenchy debuted the first generation of the Shark boot as part of the house’s Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2008 collection, and by 2012 it could be found on runways and city streets in suede, snakeskin, and metallics. Instantly recognizable for the dramatic sheath that creates a sculptural dimension to any look, it’s the distinctive crescent-shaped shark tooth detail—sleek and modern—that earned the silhouette its name. Today, fashion icons like Ariana Grande, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Teyana Taylor don the Shark Pinch as part of larger-than-life, devil-may-care looks.

Reimagined for Fall 2026, the Shark Pinch has been updated and renamed by Creative Director Sarah Burton who added her signature “Pinch” hardware – seen on handbags and accessories since her first at the house—to the variations presented in the Fall/Winter 2026 collection. Wherever you are this fashion month, expect to catch a glimpse of these iconic silhouettes weaving through the crowd.
