On Thursday, home decor mainstays Thuma and Pendleton invited a select group of design insiders Upstate for an intimate retreat co-hosted by CULTURED founder and Editor-in-Chief Sarah Harrelson. Held at the Gerald Luss House, the afternoon celebrated the brands’ new limited-edition collaboration launching on November 5, bringing Pendleton’s textile heritage together with Thuma’s contemporary approach to domestic essentials.
The Scene: The Gerald Luss House, an architectural retreat in Ossining, New York, provided a particularly picturesque backdrop to the day’s activities. Surrounded by lush forest, the house offered an intimate setting for guests to mingle as they took in an architectural gem deeply in touch with its surroundings. Floral arrangements by the Flower Barn added an additional layer of warmth to the interiors.
The Crowd: The afternoon brought together a select group of brand friends and design authorities, including writers Carson Griffiths, Jessica Noyes, Sarah Wood González and Tina Zhang; interior and fashion designers Keita Turner, Mara Hoffman, Tanner Richie, and Fletcher Kassell; chef Romilly Newman; design executive Michael Diaz-Griffith; Thuma executives Elie Donahue and Alec Banks; architect Jean-Gabriel Neukomm; and artists Brianna Lance and Deon Hinton.
Food and Drink: Lunch arrived courtesy of New York-based culinary studio Lev, importing its blend of Mediterranean fare and festive plating to the Hudson Valley for one day only, with wine by Napa Valley’s Faust.
The Entertainment: Guests put their noses to work at a bespoke scent bar conceived by perfumer Asia Grant of fragrance tour group Scent Social Club. Each attendee created a personalized room spray, designed and bottled by Grant.
The Parting Gift: Guests departed with copies of CULTURED at Home and the magazine’s Cult of Personality issue, CULTURED baseball caps, an assortment of Thuma essentials including a blanket, socks, and a candle, as well as Pendleton’s signature throws and messenger bag. The custom room sprays rounded out the haul, ensuring a small note of the upstate retreat would linger long after the trip home.
