Alex Consani isn’t just fashion’s latest obsession—she is the moment. Look in any direction, and see her face: walking the runway, taking the Grammys stage with Charli XCX, dancing in the streets on TikTok, or celebrating a history-making win as the first trans woman to be named “Model of the Year” at the 2024 British Fashion Awards.
Last month, she starred in Converse’s Valentine's Love Me, Love Me Not campaign—a playful ode to self-love—effortlessly embodying both the flirty “Love Me” and the blasé “Love Me Not.” After yet another New York Fashion Week marathon, CULTURED caught up with fashion’s reigning It-Girl to talk about the best career advice she’s received, her thoughts on the perpetual trendiness of quiet luxury, and what makes the perfect Valentine’s Day gift.
CULTURED: What’s your most essential morning habit?
Alex Consani: Recently? An extra hour of sleep.
CULTURED: What's your go-to scent?
Consani: I love patchouli. It is so universal. It’s sexy and it’s serious and young at the same time. Any perfume with that ingredient is my choice.
CULTURED: Where do you escape to for total relaxation?
Consani: Back home to the Bay Area. It’s so beautiful and relaxing at the same time.

CULTURED: What’s the most surprising trend you’ve embraced? Which one do you avoid like the plague?
Consani: Quiet luxury is something I didn’t expect to enjoy, but I like how simple it makes getting dressed, but I’m trying to avoid it because now I look 30.
CULTURED: What's the best advice you’ve gotten about working in fashion?
Consani: The best advice I have gotten is to surround yourself with people outside of the industry. This job can unground you, so you need people to remind you how important life outside of the job is.
CULTURED: If we raided your closet, what’s the one piece that defines you?
Consani: It would be a Birkin, but I still don’t have one
CULTURED: What are your on-set essentials?
Consani: A phone charger and headphones. I love to listen to music, especially when shooting something with a lot of movement like Converse.
CULTURED: What's a splurge you save for special occasions? How about one little luxury under $20 you love?
Consani: I will always splurge on a dinner, especially when I’m celebrating my friends. A luxury under $20 is peanut M&Ms—it is the most chic candy, in my opinion.
CULTURED: What’s your idea of the perfect Valentine’s Day gift?
Consani: Macarons. They are so sexy but also so chic!
CULTURED: Settle the debate: do Converse go with a dress?
Consani: Yesssss! That’s the reference!!!
