After a busy week in Miami, art and design insiders traveled back to New York at the speed of light for one more gathering before the weekend.
Friday night, CULTURED Editor-in-Chief Sarah Harrelson joined forces with APPARATUS Artistic Director Gabriel Hendifar to celebrate the company’s new CYLINDER : SYSTEM and accompanying photographic project, SUBJECTS : BIOGRAPHIES IN LIGHT, which was recently featured in the magazine's inaugural Artists on Artists issue.
The perfectly lit soirée, hosted at the company's Red Room space in Chelsea, featured a suite of impeccably decorated rooms, where attendees such as fashion designer LaQuan Smith; Eyeswoon founder and design maven Athena Calderone; model and creative director Alioune Badara Fall; CULTURED Design Editor-at-Large Colin King; celebrity stylist Denisa Palsha; singer-songwriter Emmet Skyy; luxury real estate broker and hotelier Steve Gold; photographer Dina Litovsky; as well as SUBJECTS: BIOGRAPHIES IN LIGHT subjects Lauren Gerrie and Dianne Brill explored one space after the next with sparkling wine and cocktails, courtesy of the luxury tequila purveyor Casa Del Sol, in hand.
Elevating the experience of functional lighting, CYLINDER : SYSTEM asks viewers to contemplate their relationship to visibility and what they choose to spotlight, exemplifying APPARATUS’s commitment to designs that act as an "envelope for human experience and interaction." Witnessing the collection in action last Friday, and seeing its muses express themselves in the film that accompanies the release, guests were reminded that the right lighting really makes you see differently.
