Beneath the neon glow of West Pico Boulevard, CULTURED VIP guests gathered last week for a private preview of “New Boundaries,” an exhibition of emerging artists based out of Los Angeles. The show, curated by the LA-based Swedish art dealer and advisor Carl Larsson and hosted at Invisible Dynamics’s creative studio, ushered a chorus of fresh artistic voices into the spotlight.

Larsson partnered with Oli Walsh, founder and CEO of Invisible Dynamics, to organize "New Boundaries." The pieces on view range from a ceramic tableau of celebrities outside the Viper Room by Meegan Barnes to weathered text canvases that recall LA’s signage by Nicolas Shake. The artists—also including Aryo Toh Djojo, Connor Tingley, Lacey Stoffer, Nabilah Nordin, Nick Modrzewski, and Tim Irani—have widely ranging styles, but all of their work deals in some way with the thematic interplay of environment and movement.

Against the industrial backdrop of Invisible Dynamics, the event for CULTURED’s VIP guests was a celebration of the metropolis as a bastion of creativity and artistic incubation. With support from CULTURED, “New Boundaries” is on view by appointment through Nov. 22.
