With its ninth annual Young Artists List, CULTURED is taking its commitment to supporting rising creatives to new heights.

The magazine is reaching these new heights through a partnership with luxury accessories brand MZ Wallace, who will sponsor the Young Artist Prize, offering the winner $30,000 in unrestricted funds at a pivotal moment in their practice.

The annual Young Artists List has consistently identified promising talent early on. Many artists appeared on the CULTURED list—including Jordan Casteel, Walter Price, Avery Singer, Anna WeyantChristina Quarles, and Jamian Juliano-Villani—before they came to wider acclaim.

"The Young Artist Prize marks a pivotal moment for CULTURED as we broaden the impact of our Young Artists List and reinforce our commitment to championing promising artistic voices,” says Editor-in-Chief Sarah Harrelson, who founded the list nine years ago with the aim of helping usher in a new generation of talent during their key career moments. “Thanks to MZ Wallace's generosity, we're now thrilled to offer emerging artists not only recognition but also meaningful financial support to propel their careers."

The 2024 recipient will be determined by a distinguished jury that includes Legacy Russell, executive director and chief curator of The Kitchen; MoMA PS1's Katrib; and Kelly Taxter, deputy director of Artists Space

“The Young Artist Prize extends MZ Wallace’s commitment to contemporary culture, which since our founding in 2000 has included multiple collaborations with artists,” add MZ Wallace co-founders Monica Zwirner and Lucy Wallace Eustice. “We’re honored to provide support to the 2024 Prize recipient as they continue to develop their work and imagine new possibilities."

CULTURED will reveal the first-ever prize recipient in mid-February, coinciding with the launch of the Art + Film issue. This follows the release of the Winter 2024 issue next month, which will feature this year's Young Artists list.
