What could entice Martha Stewart, Gisele Bündchen, Paul Rudd, Amanda Seyfried, and Natalie Portman up to Kingston, New York? This October, it’s the Field + Supply modern makers market, of which this illustrious list are devotees.

Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, Field + Supply has proven itself a mecca for makers, designers, and shoppers. The open-air market—nestled in Kingston’s historic Hutton Brickyards and featuring over 275 participants—offers visitors a chance to peruse stalls overflowing with home goods, jewelry, ceramics, and textiles.

The biannual fair is the brainchild of interior designer Brad Ford, who envisioned a space for a global community of artisans to display their curated goods during a multi-day experience involving workshops, live music, and designer events.

To celebrate the milestone, limited edition items will be available, including a special candle by Wndrmade in collaboration with DBO Home. Additional programming includes an embroidery workshop with Coral & Tusk and tattooing by Evan Paul English.

This menagerie of events strikes a nostalgic chord for Ford, whose initial concept for the market sought to resurrect youthful joy. “I was longing for the jovial fair atmosphere I remembered as a child—the excitement of discovering something new, the music, the food,” he says. “However, after living in the city and working as an interior designer, my taste levels evolved. It made me wonder if we could modernize the traditional arts and crafts fair with a more elevated slant while still keeping the spirit of the fairs I attended growing up.”

Each iteration of the market includes artisans new to the game as well as those who participate every year. “Some of the best feedback we get is from our vendors and how Field + Supply has impacted their businesses over the years,” says Ford. “We've had makers that were creating things as a hobby or pastime that are now able to make it their livelihood. We've also had a number of vendors who have made important wholesale relationships at Field + Supply with major retailers throughout the country.”

Those wishing to make the trip upstate will find the fair running from Oct. 11 through 13, with single, two-day, and three-day passes available
