CULTURED and Orlebar Brown joined forces to usher in Frieze Week in Los Angeles with a toast to art, style, and the promise of spring. The early-evening cocktail soirée, held at collectors Graham Steele and Ulysses De Santi's private residence, celebrated the launch of Orlebar Brown’s Spring/Summer 2024 Collection, Blossom, which focuses on floral designs in sustainable fabrics.
Orlebar Brown comes by its relationship to the art world naturally: it was founded in 2007 by the photographer Adam Brown. Having made its name with versatile beachwear for men, the brand has broadened its repertoire under the stewardship of Brown and CEO Paul Donoghue to include a full range of resort wear.
The evening’s guests included luminaries from the worlds of art, fashion, and design. Amongst attendees were artists Alex Israel and Rogan Gregory; interior designer Oliver Furth; Rob Teeters; musician Este Haim; designer Carlton DeWoody; the Culture Creative's Sean Yashar; stylists Marquise Miller, Evet Sanchez, and Yashua Simmons; and collector Arthur Lewis.
A number of guests arrived decked out in Orlebar Brown's exquisite knits and cashmere, including the hosts, whose art-filled home—complete with works by Judith Hopf, Frank Bowling, Louise Bourgeois, and more—served as a perfect backdrop. Attendees milled from piece to piece while sipping on bespoke cocktails like a gin and elderflower Petals of the Past and tequila-grapefruit Bird Street Blossom.
While the event may have had guests dreaming of beachside afternoons, they will have to get through a jam-packed week of art openings, events, and other Frieze Week agenda items before they can slip on their swimsuits and hit the sand.
