This Season, Couture Went Sculptural. Photographer Daniel Archer Investigates
Drawing inspiration from Degas and Brancusi, the British image-maker explores the sculptural power of fashion through the lens of photography in this transporting shoot, commissioned for CULTURED's February/March issue.
Fashion has always been a manipulation of form—a means to obfuscate, warp, tighten, or liberate. From a riff on a Degas dancer to a geometric silhouette reminiscent of a Brancusi, these looks, curated from a range of archival runway pieces and independent designer silhouettes, embrace the power of fashion as sculpture.
